Hi,

I am using Collect Earth on Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS, and I recently ran into a problem: when selecting a plot, Firefox windows showing GEE/Bing open briefly and suddenly crash before loading the required link. I have Firefox 47.0 on my system, and I provided the correct executable path (/usr/bin/firefox) in the "Preferences" dialog. I tried switching to Google Chrome, but in this case no windows open in any case.

I would provide a more detailed error report, but when running CE from terminal, no error warning is shown in this respect, and I don't know where to find the logs.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Maybe someone could give some hints or point me in the right direction...

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We experienced problem with Firefox 47.0 in Windows so I guess it is related to your issue. To fix this issue :

  1. Update Firefox to the latest version 47.0.1
  2. Check that you have the latest version of Collect Earth ( go to the Collect Earth menu Help->Check for updates of Collect Earth )

If this does not fix your issue let us know.

Thank you for your quick reply.

Unfortunately, updating to the latest version of Firefox (now 48) does not solve the problem. Firefox window now opens, but stays blank until CE automatically tries to close and reopen it (sure enough, without success).

Still no signs of life from Chrome: it seems to just ignore CE when you choose to open web pages with it.

Any other suggestions?
